This is Pennsylvania's most heavily traveled area by tourists and curiosity seekers alike. The main reasons for this are the Amish or Pennsylvania Dutch that inhabit the area. Once arriving in the Lancaster County area you'll want to visit Kettle Kitchen Village. It's a quaint village where there are staged reenactments for visitors and where you'll find the region's antiques and arts and crafts on display.

There are also, campgrounds, bed and breakfasts, hotels, motels, resorts and inns that you can stay and dine in. One highly recommended activity you will not want to over look on your visit is a horse and carriage ride. These leisurely drives offer tourists either a 4 or a 5 mile carriage ride through the scenic Pennsylvania countryside.

The 4 mile ride lasts about 35 minutes and the 5 mile ride last close to an hour. The buggy itself has a covered roof; however, they do not run in inclement weather. No reservation needed though! Horse and buggy are the most common form of transportation in this part of the county.

The AAA buggy rides in Lancaster PA are all part of the relaxed environment, which is indicative of the laid back attitude and slow paced lifestyle of the Amish. These excursions are offered by a family owned and operated company. There are other sites to see such as a real working Amish farm, a local theater, amusement park, the Pennsylvania Rail Road and many more.
